CASS COVID-19 Special Student Design Competition announced

CASS COVID-19 Entrepreneurs Competition announced (see Program menu)

Important dates updated after ISCAS 2020 postponement (see Registration page)

President's Message

I am happy to inform you that IEEE CASS has launched two initiatives to help tackle the Covid-19 epidemic which is transforming the way we live and work.

The first initiative involves the students. In addition to the traditional competition that we launch every year, this year we have introduced a special competition around technological solutions to combat the Covid-19 disease.

The second initiative is an entrepreneurs competition which aims to support startups which are also contributing to this battle by working on innovative technological solutions. The three winners of the competition will benefit from the IEEE CASS label, advice from numerous experts, investors, doctors and the IEEE special program for startups.

Students and Startups are strongly recommended to participate. The winners of both competitions will be invited to our flagship conference ISCAS 2020 in Sevilla in October to receive awards and present live demos.

President of the CAS Society

First, and more importantly, we hope that you and your families remain healthy in the difficult circumstances that we are confronting these days. Our thoughts are with those who are facing health problems.

Unfortunately, the evolution of the COVID-19 outbreak shows that the crisis will most likely remain in May 2020 as pointed out by Health Organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO), the Health Alert and Emergency Co-ordination Centre (CCAES) of the Spanish Ministry of Health, the Andalusian Regional Ministry of Health and the Centers for Disease and Prevention. This obviously compromises the celebration of ISCAS 2020.

The safety and well-being of all conference participants is our priority; therefore, different contingency scenarios have been analyzed. Being ISCAS the major networking event of the IEEE Circuits and Systems (CAS) Society and aiming to preserve face-to-face interactions, the organization team and the CAS Society Governance have decided to keep the conference in Sevilla, but to postpone it to the following dates:

12-14 October 2020 (tutorials day on 11 October 2020)

We understand that some attendees might have other commitments for the new dates; therefore, we will apply flexible publication criteria for those authors who are not able to change their agendas. Additionally, the period for early registrations will be extended in due time. For those who have already booked accommodation through the ISCAS 2020 Hotel Reservation website, rooms will be available for the new dates at the same price.

We apologize for any inconvenience this postponement might cause and please contact the conference secretariat ( with any questions you may have. Please continue to visit for any updates and for further information on this postponement.

Yours sincerely,

Ángel Rodríguez-Vázquez, Manuel Delgado-Restituto and Eduard Alarcón

General Co-Chairs, ISCAS 2020

The IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems (ISCAS) is the flagship conference of the IEEE Circuits and Systems (CAS) Society and the world’s premiere networking forum for researchers in the highly active fields of theory, design and implementation of circuits and systems. This is accomplished through technical conference sessions, poster sessions, live demonstration sessions, and publication of conference papers. ISCAS 2020 will be driven by the theme Deploying CASS Knowledge towards Society Grand Challenges aiming to emphasize the potential of the CAS Society to find multidisciplinary solutions for the societal and engineering challenges of our times.

To implement the above vision, this year’s meeting will highlight the following innovation themes

  • Emerging Technologies
  • Smart Systems for Automotive
  • Cognitive Computing & Deep Learning
  • Personalized Healthcare Systems
  • Brain: Innovation NeuroTechnologies
  • Internet of Things
  • Big Data Processing
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Cyber-Physical Systems
  • Sustainable Computing and Systems
  • Energy-aware Systems and Services
  • 5G and Multi-Gigabit Optoelectronics Comm

by collecting contributions in all areas of Circuits and Systems, including but not limited to the following topics

  • Analog / RF / Mixed Signal Circuits & Systems
  • Beyond CMOS: Nano & Hybrid Systems
  • Communications Circuits & Systems
  • Neural Networks & Neuromorphic Engineering
  • Power and Energy Circuits & Systems
  • Visual Communications & Multimedia Signal Processing
  • Biomedical Circuits & Systems
  • Digital Circuits & Systems
  • Digital Signal Processing
  • Nonlinear Systems & Circuit Theory
  • Sensory Circuits & Systems
  • Education in Circuits & System

Selected ISCAS2020 papers will be invited for possible publication either in the IEEE Transaction on Circuits and Systems – Part I, in the IEEE Transaction on Circuits and Systems – Part II, or in the IEEE Transaction on Biomedical Circuits and Systems.

ISCAS2020 will also implement Open Preview: the conference proceedings will be available open access on IEEE Xplore approximately 3 weeks before the conference.
