The Women in Circuits and Systems (WiCAS) Committee of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society proudly invites you to attend the WiCAS Events organized with the occasion of ISCAS 2020.
October 12, 18:30-19:30 / Room Giralda 1-2
Conference offered by Prof. Orly Yadid-Pecht entitled “From Lab 2 Fulfilment – A unique workshop in support of women entrepreneurship”.
Title: From Lab 2 Fulfilment – A unique workshop in support of women entrepreneurship
Affiliation: University of Calgary
18:30 - 19:30 / October 12 / Room Giralda 1-2
The lecture will cover current status of women in business, describe Dr. Yadid-Pecht’s personal experience and the motivation for the program, explain the workshop unique structure and present preliminary results from first cohorts of workshop participants. FL2F was developed by Dr. Yadid-Pecht and created to guide women in science, engineering, technology and math (STEM) towards commercialization. The process Dr. Yadid-Pecht has designed helps women in STEM make their scientific innovations more impactful by showing them how to overcome hurdles, find supporters, and build their strategic plans and alliances. The workshop has attracted great enthusiasm from its participants so far and excellent preliminary results.
Orly Yadid-Pecht received her B.Sc. from the Electrical Engineering Department at the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology. She completed her D.Sc. in 1995, also at the Technion. She was a National Research Council (USA) research fellow till 1997 in the areas of Advanced Image Sensors at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL)/ California Institute of Technology (Caltech), after which she joined Ben-Gurion University in Israel as a member of the Electrical and Electro-Optical Engineering departments. There she founded the VLSI Systems Center, specializing in CMOS Image Sensors. Since 2009 she is the iCORE Professor of Integrated Sensors, Intelligent Systems (ISIS) at the University of Calgary, Canada. In 2014 she received the iCORE/ AITF Strategic Chair position in Integrated Intelligent Sensors (I2Sense). Dr. Yadid-Pecht is a Fellow of IEEE, SPIE and AIMBE. She is also a twice recipient of the Alberta Science and Technology (ASTech) Leadership award (in 2015 in the category of Start-Up companies, with Luxmux Inc., and in 2018 individually), and of the Parex Innovation award (2019).
October 12, 19:30-21:30 / Three Cultures Foundation
Following the WiCAS session, a cocktail reception with foods and light drinks will be held at the Three Cultures Foundation Pavillion within the island of the Cartuja. The Pavillion was built for the Universal Exhibition held in Sevilla in 1992 and currently hosts the Three Cultures Foundation, which objective is to promote the “dialogue, peace and tolerance among the peoples and cultures of the Mediterranean.”
A complete 360º degrees virtual tour of the beautiful facilities of the Pavillion can be found here.
Although not far away from the ISCAS venue (just at 20 minutes walking distance), buses will be available for transportation to the Reception.
Participation in the WiCAS Events (both WiCAS session and cocktail reception) is free of charge for ISCAS delegates. Still, the capacity is limited to 100 attendees, and reservations will be made on a first-come-first-served basis until complete capacity.
